Isn’t it great to live in the 21st century where we can realize our dreams through YouTube tutorials? Or maybe a few of them, depending on how big your dream is. The hero of today’s story is Michael (28) and he certainly had a big dream! Instead of saving for a ‘normal’ house, he wanted to build something more creative.
He was inspired via YouTube videos to turn a vehicle into a house. And when he saw an old ambulance for sale at an online auction (a 1992 Ford E-350 that once served as an ambulance for a small town in Tennessee) he became very enthusiastic. He did not change his mind for a moment and bought the old ambulance! This was the first step of his creative project. But much still remains to be done. Michael told in an interview why he wanted to renovate an ambulance into a living space: “The ambulance was about the size of a sea container, but the difference was that this ambulance was cheaper and has a motor, which means I can drive it around. Many people have the excuse “I could not live there because it is too difficult to fix it up and you don’t have much space in such a vehicle”.
But living in a vehicle gives you flexibility, freedom and it allows you to say ‘yes’ to so many more adventures, because you can drive away at any time and spend the night wherever you want. The ambulance was already being used by a landscaping company for this. As you can see in the photo, all the tools were still in the ambulance Michael decided to clear the entire ambulance! You can see what that looks like on the next page.
