New York City is one of the most populated cities in America with more than 8.5 million inhabitants. You would not expect to see uninhabited properties in the city because of the number of inhabitants. Not much is known about this deserted country house, just a few miles outside the bustling heart of Times Square.
People know that the building has been vacant for years and no one else is living there. Photographer Bryan Sansivero investigated the mystery behind this abandoned house. He specializes in capturing scenes of urban decay, with a mysterious past. You would never believe what he found inside this villa! The large mansion is a crumbling remnant of an era. After construction in the late 1930s, it was last occupied in the 1970s. That was more than 40 years ago. Nobody knows why the original owners of the building have left or why no one else has come to live there.
The mansion has 57 rooms with an indoor tennis court and a bowling alley. It is a perfect location for a hotel, but it is left behind to expire. Whoever lived in the house (and what they did for a living to afford a 57-room household) remains a mystery. Although it now seems abandoned, the property does have a real owner. But why?
