The Victorian design was popular in the 1800s to early 1900s and was marketed by daring prints, dark patterned wallpapers, ornate details and expensive materials.
The gold finish and graceful engravings in the trophy cases of this room also give a nod to the Victorian design, which is a unique choice for a family in the 1970s. But the picture on the next page shows that this house might have been with the family for generations. The owners of this house probably lived here for a long time, or the house was probably kept in the family from the 1930s until the 70s. This is clearly visible in the interior design. Although many of the rooms refer to Victorian Design, this photo shows chairs from almost all eras.
There are bamboo chairs that mark the art deco movement from the 30s and 40s. There are curved, graceful Victorian style wooden chairs. There are the bold colors of the 50s and 60s, and chairs with mustard and brown colors are typical for the 70s. That the house could not handle all weather conditions, is evident from the photo on the next page!
